Isabella Indolfi, is independent curator, based in Italy, working between Italy, Russia, Armenia and USA. With a background in Sociology and New Media, her research is focused on contemporary art and particularly on site specific and community-based art practices. Recently resident curator for Residency Unlimited in New York. Founder and art director of SEMINARIA Biennial Festival of Environmental Art. Currently curator for Cyland Media Art Lab – based between Saint Petersburg and New York – and for the Embassy of Italy in Armenia. Member of the Manager Committee of the Writing Urban Places action in COST European Cooperation in Science and Technology. She gave lectures at the Goldsmiths University of London and at the Manchester Metropolitan University School of Art. Curated exhibitions at the MACRO Museum in Rome, the Youth Center of the Hermitage State Museum in Saint Petersburg, the Cà Foscari University in Venice, the Cafesijan Museum in Yerevan. Writing Urban Places proposes an innovative investigation and implementation of a process for developing human understanding of communities, their society, and their situatedness, by narrative methods. It particularly focuses on the potential of narrative methods for urban development in European medium-sized cities.
