Irina Scobiola graduated from the Faculty of Architecture within the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism, Romania, in July 2016. As a student she volunteered in the field of Participatory Social Architecture within the Arhipera Association, where after graduation she started working and training as an architect. Also within the Arhipera Association, she participated and was project manager in several funded educational projects, in parallel with her work as an architect. Currently Irina is doing research in the field of identity architecture and is writing a doctoral thesis on identity architecture in the contemporary Romanian village. Her fields of expertise are social architecture, identity architecture, rural revitalization through community building, contemporary language for rural architecture. Starting with 2019, she teaches as an assistant professor at the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism within the Department of Design Basics in the second and third years. irinascobiola@gmail.com

Writing Urban Places proposes an innovative investigation and implementation of a process for developing human understanding of communities, their society, and their situatedness, by narrative methods. It particularly focuses on the potential of narrative methods for urban development in European medium-sized cities.
