Mirza Emirhafizović is an associate professor and vice-dean for research at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo. He received his MSc and PhD in sociology from University of Sarajevo. His research interests are, inter alia, in the area of urban sociology, focusing on age-friendly cities, diversity and urban transformation in the context of neoliberalism as well as portrayal of urban way of life in European movies (by P. Almodovar, C. Saura, V. Aranda, A. Amenabar, N. Moretti, J. Rivette, E. Rohmer, J.-L. Godard, A. Tanner, R.W. Fassbinder, N. B. Ceylan, M. Leigh, M. Haneke, J. Hausner, etc.). He has made several study visits at universities and institutes in the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal. He has been involved in various academic-related activities, such as a member of the Editorial Board for Sarajevo Social Science Review (published by the Faculty of Political Sciences) since 2016 and a member of the Social Science Section within the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Writing Urban Places proposes an innovative investigation and implementation of a process for developing human understanding of communities, their society, and their situatedness, by narrative methods. It particularly focuses on the potential of narrative methods for urban development in European medium-sized cities.
