Sara Silva Lopes is a Portuguese architect, who graduated at University of Lisbon – ISCTE-IUL (2015). She worked at architectural studios from 2016 to 2019 with experience that fluctuates between the fields of urbanism, architecture and art. Worked in the Project SPLACH – Spatial Planning for Change and is currently working in the Project The Grand Projects – Architectural and Urbanistic Operations after the 1998 Lisbon World Exposition Her research focuses on urban production processes, and their impact on the urban territories and urban/architectural design, with interest in the themes of urban morphology studies, spatial planning instruments, public policies, and the rights to the city and housing. She is currently working on her PhD thesis in Urban Studies (ISCTE and FCSH-UNL) from October of 2020, with the project ” Territorial Dynamics and Housing Morphologies”. Writing Urban Places proposes an innovative investigation and implementation of a process for developing human understanding of communities, their society, and their situatedness, by narrative methods. It particularly focuses on the potential of narrative methods for urban development in European medium-sized cities.
