CHAM – Centre for the Humanities is an inter-university unit belonging to the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities and to the Universidade of Açores. CHAM is an international reference in the Humanities and one of the main centres in this research area in Portugal, currently questioning Frontiers in an interdisciplinary approach and with an historical and contemporary perspective. It conducts groundbreaking research in the field of the Humanities, is deeply involved in advanced professional training, and develops a broad range of knowledge transfer activities. 

CHAM is also the scientific coordinator of the UNESCO Chair on the Oceans’ Cultural Heritage, hosted by NOVA FCSH, and whose chairholder is a senior researcher at CHAM.
